The Channelside Entertainment and Retail ComplexThe Channelside Entertainment and Retail Complex is located in Tampa, Florida’s downtown waterfront. This complex transformed the waterfront from dilapidated warehouses and banana docks to a destination entertainment complex just a short walk from cruise embarkation facilities. Channelside has a multiplex cinema specializing in independent films, an IMAX theater, entertainment, shopping and restaurants all in a seaside atmosphere.
The structural system is steel floors and roofs. Steel bracing provides resistance to hurricane force wind loads and the foundation system is concrete footings on compacted stone columns. The IMAX exterior wall features 80 foot tall vertical trusses to transfer wind loads into the roof diaphragm.
